The Vision of Make Room

God’s Church exists to lead people to follow Christ. That has been the mission of Summit Church since the beginning. Every follower of Jesus should be engaged in this work as an active member of their local church.

The people in our community desperately need to hear the message of the Gospel. According to local census data, more than 65% of the population in the three counties surrounding Summit are unchurched. We must be a city on a hill to our community!

Buildings are tools that enable us to do the work God has entrusted to us. At Summit Church, we often say that our building is a “rescue ship” and not a “cruise boat.” The building exists to serve the mission. Now, because of our church’s growth, our existing building has exceeded its capacity in several ways. It is time to take another step of faith and Make Room. To fulfill the mission to lead people to follow Christ, we must make more room to share the Gospel with the next generation, with our neighbors, and our community.

Make Room for...

Our current building was not designed to serve a congregation of our size. However, it was designed with expansion in mind! Church leaders have carefully weighed ministry needs and project costs, and now present the Make Room project. This is the next step in expanding our building to meet the growing needs of our church. We are making room for classroom space, gathering space, and office space. Adding space in these three areas will allow for growth in discipleship, community, and collaboration.

PROJECT OVERVIEW

The project will add an additional 15,000 square feet, nearly doubling our current 19,000 square foot building.

Our gathering space will expand by an additional 8,000 square feet to make room for important connections and community.

A new grand entrance will allow the gathering space to serve as the central hub of the building.

New public restrooms as well as two family restrooms will alleviate stress on our current restrooms and children’s wing.

A new classroom wing with six additional classrooms, three of which can combine into one large teaching space, will allow for various groups and teaching environments.

A new office wing will centralize office space and encourage collaboration, giving us sufficient offices for current staff with room to grow.

Renovated space will make room for new areas like nurseries, rooms for nursing mothers, prayer rooms, and a volunteer room.

Future building phases have been designed to allow our facility to grow with us for years to come, as God provides.

A Call to prayER

While we know this will be a challenging time of growth for us, we have found that when our church is unified in purpose, direction, and prayer, God moves in mighty ways. We are after that again, so let's seek God in prayer, asking Him to provide for what He has called us to do.
